Room Dividers
These custom-designed room dividers are the result of collaboration between BW H designers and Roem Ontwerp. The wool felt on the backside of the dividers enhances the acoustics in the space, while the shelves on the other side provide additional storage capacity. Mounted in subtle aluminum frames, the wool felt not only contributes to improved acoustics but also acts as a moisture absorber. Additionally, it is repellent to dirt, easy to clean, and flame-retardant, making it a versatile and practical material for these unique room dividers.
Handmade
The wool felt is hand-felted from a blend of Merino wool and silk, dyed with Steinlav. Steinlav is a type of lichen that grows on rocks. "steinlav" (rock lichen), has a historical significance in Norway and other Nordic regions as a traditional plant dye.
Also other lichen species were used for dyeing purposes. The colors obtained from lichens ranged from earthy browns and yellows to greens, and the specific hues depended on the type of lichen used and the dyeing process applied.
